I am very sure that we all are aware of our beautiful Lucknow. This city makes all the Indians proud. We have such beautiful cities in India. As we all know it is the capital city of the state, Uttar Pradesh.
You might not be knowing that it is the second largest city in north, east and central India after Delhi. It is an artistic hub and seat of the Nawab power and also it is a multicultural city. This marks it different and special from the other cities. It is an important center of government, education, commerce, technology, design etc.
Hindi is the main language of the city and Urdu is also widely spoken. It has the maximum population of the Shia Muslims in India.
Lucknow, along with Agra and Varanasi, is one of the 3 cities in the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc, a chain of survey triangulations created by the government of Uttar Pradesh to boost tourism in the state.
Lucknow is the anglicized spelling of the local pronunciation “Lakhnau”. According to one legend, the city is named after Lakshmana, a hero of the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana.

CNG was introduced as an auto fuel to keep air pollution under control. Radio Taxis are operated by two major companies along with several other small operators. They can be arranged by phone or at taxi stands. Many other private players such as Ola cabs have also their presence in the city.
>>>Railways- there are many trains going to Lucknow so travelling there by rail is also comfortable. Lucknow is served by several railway stations in different parts of the country. Lucknow has almost 14 railway stations. And the best part is that all these stations lie in the city limits and are well connected to all public transport systems.
>>>Air transport- so now even air transport is available in Lucknow. It has direct air transport in many countries like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, etc. it has domestic as well as international airports. Travelling is getting luxurious now. People don’t have to worry about it.
One thing which tourist looks for in a place is its cuisine and culture. Talking about Lucknow, it will never disappoint any of tourists. It serves the best of food and art. As I mentioned earlier that this is a City of Nawabs, so having special nawabi food is a must. And the best dishes out there are biryani, kebabs and breads.
The kebabs of Lucknow are world famous. When people visit Lucknow they specially look for kebabs. It is also famous for its chats and street food. Let’s not forget Nihari, it is a very special dish made of Muttons and is very famous amongst the non- vegetarians.
And also Sheermal, it is a type of parathan, prepared only in Lucknow. So there is no shortage of food. You will get a variety of food when you visit here and you will definitely not be disappointed.
Lucknow is known for its Dasheri mangoes.
Now let’s talk about the art and talent of Lucknow. Hindi, Urdu as well as English are well spoken and well understood. Lucknow is very famous for its talent in poetry and language. It has many Muslim poets right now and as well as in the history. And when it comes to drama, dance and music, Lucknow is amazing at it. It is just fabulous.
Our very own classical dance form of Kathak took shape in Lucknow. The tradition of Kathak is still alive in Lucknow. It is known for Gazals also. There are many well known music institutes in Lucknow. Lucknow is a birthplace of many musicians.
One more thing, for which Lucknow is world famous, is its Lucknow Chikan. It is very well known for its embroidery work. Chikankari is a form of embroidery work and was originated 400 years back in Lucknow.
Lucknow is a place which could be visited at any time of the year. It is such a beautiful place that you don’t have to choose weathers and seasons. But still it is somehow said that people should visit it between October to March because then its weather conditions are at its extreme.
People don’t visit it in summer because its summers are extreme and it becomes too hot. One more reason why you should visit Lucknow in winter is that, during that time Lucknow festival starts. It includes parades, dance, concerts etc. so it is a huge tourist attraction.
I am very sure that we non- Lucknow people will definitely envy their life. It is also said that people of Lucknow are the warmest and courteous. They are very well spoken and believe in the Indian tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhavah”. That means that they treat guests like God.
This city is also called as the City of Nawabs and is also known for its rich cultural heritage. People of Lucknow mostly speak Urdu, which is a very sweet language. They have their own style for everything. They leave there assent in everything they do, like even rolling a pan is in a different style.
You will never hear them abusing or anything. They always use their words wisely and with warmth. All this makes us realize that Lucknow is very famous and is highly respected for its mannerism. This is something we should learn from the localities of Lucknow. It has the charm of old India and old traditions. The local life of Lucknow is so much on our old and original tradition. They prefer the old tradition rather than the western culture.
